Regenerative Fund for Nature: selected projects for 2021
The Regenerative Fund for Nature supports promising and innovative regenerative agriculture projects around the world to drive a transition from current farming methods to regenerative practices for 1,000,000 hectares of crop and rangelands. In its inaugural year, the Fund launched by Kering and Conservation International in 2021 has selected seven ambitious projects. With Inditex joining the Fund in 2023, we have the opportunity to expand the reach of the Fund and support additional projects. The Regenerative Fund for Nature invites applicants to submit proposals for the 2024 grant cycle.
Through this initiative, Kering, Conservation International and Inditex provide financial support to farmers in their transition from current agricultural practices, which have a large impact on the climate and our planet, to more regenerative approaches that restore nature and mitigate climate change. Eligible projects currently focus on leather, cotton, wool and cashmere.
A call for applications was issued in early 2021 and closed in April 2021. Seven projects were selected from over 73 project proposals from around the world. Kering unveiled the seven projects selected as part of the Regenerative Fund for Nature at the IUCN World Conservation Congress held in Marseille in September 2021. The 2021 cohort is a diverse and powerful inaugural portfolio andstands out for the innovative approaches showcased by each initiative. Overall, the projects represent 840,000 hectares which will ultimately be transformed into regenerative agricultural spaces, engaging 60,000 people around the globe.
This initial selection underlines Kering’s renewed commitment to protect nature through concrete actions and its ambition to be the world’s most influential Luxury group in terms of creativity, sustainability and economic performance.
Now, with the 2024 grant application cycle open. we look forward to receiving new innovative project proposals and working together to create a more sustainable and regenerative future.

The Good Growth Company
Country: Mongolia
Core raw material concerned: cashmere
The Good Growth Company aims to identify and restore ecosystems that produce raw materials while involving the herders who work on-site. Regeneration plans are focused on a unique “place-based” model for specific regions. The grant will be used to develop and rollout of a toolkit to implement this model, which will be adapted to each region. The Good Growth Company brings together ecosystem science and community partnerships to create value for key places and people.
Organic Cotton Accelerator
Country: India
Core raw material concerned: cotton
The Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA) has a twofold objective: helping conventional farmers in their transition to organic agriculture through training and active involvement as well as maximizing the adoption of regenerative practices by organic producers. The project, which targets approximately 50,000 farmers, stands out for its positive impact on both the environment and business.
Solidaridad
Country: Argentina
Core raw material concerned: leather (cattle)
Solidaridad aims to work with Creole and indigenous smallholder cattle producers to promote sustainable management of grazing lands in the Gran Chaco biome in Argentina. The project is also aimed at restoring native forests and their vegetation. Upon completion of this pilot approach, Solidaridad expects to triple local producer revenue.
Fundación Global Nature
Country: Spain
Core raw material concerned: leather (goat)
Fundación Global Nature is focused on creating three pilot experiences in three Spanish regions to transform traditional grazing systems and restore goat farming environments. In regions with high biodiversity like these and where goat farming is a key resource, supporting vulnerable farmers is critical. Funds will be made available through a micro grant program supported by Fundación Global Nature.
Wildlife Conservation Society & The Wildlife-Friendly Enterprise Network

This unique project in Patagonia brings the power of regenerative approaches together with wildlife-friendly practices for livestock management that coexists with nature. The Wildlife Conservation Society & The Wildlife-Friendly Enterprise Network not only focuses on wildlife conservation, it also offers a market-based approach to fibers like merino wool and mohair.
Epiterre
Country: France
Core raw material concerned: wool and leather (sheep)
In the Midi-Pyrénées region of Southwestern France, recent climactic changes have negatively impacted local vegetation, with cascading impacts on biodiversity and fodder for livestock. The Epiterre project seeks to restore ecological balance and to safeguard producer livelihoods by implementing a resilient agro-ecological model that promotes the growth of quality, nature-friendly fodder.
Conservation South Africa
Country: South Africa
Core raw material concerned: wool (sheep)
Conservation South Africa offers a two-year partnership to integrate small stock farmers into existing grazing associations and create an environment for these grazing associations to effectively implement regenerative agricultural practices. This improves producers’ market access and enhances their livelihood opportunities.
