Relive Women In Motion highlights since 2015.
In January 2025, Women In Motion began a partnership with the Palm Springs International Film Festival to support two of its “Talking Pictures” panels. Talks featured Angelina Jolie for her role in Maria, as well as Emilia Pérez actors Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, Édgar Ramírez and director Jacques Audiard.
Once again, Women In Motion joined forces with the Paris Photo international photography fair. For the fifth consecutive year, the program endorsed Elles X Paris Photo which serves to spotlight women photographers. Efforts to support the event were stepped up in 2024, with the photo fair directly assisting four galleries, presenting both monograph and group exhibitions for women photographers.
Following the exhibitions presenting Vivian Maier in Paris, Turin and Seoul, in 2024, Kering lent its support to the retrospective devoted to the woman photographer in New York City, starting in May. Showcased at the Fotografiska New York, the new exhibition, Vivian Maier: Unseen Work spanned 200 works from the early 1950s to the mid-1980s. That same year, Kering deepened its commitment to the field with support for another influential figure in contemporary photography. To mark centenary of the birth of Sabine Weiss, the recipient of the Women In Motion Award for photography in 2020, Kering’s program supported a new exhibition presented at the Photo Elysée in Lausanne in honor of her memory. In the fall of 2024, Berlin-based photography space, f³ – freiraum für fotografie, presented a retrospective of Sabine Weiss for the first time in Germany.
In 2024, for the sixth straight year, Kering was a partner of Rencontres d'Arles, an annual high point in international photography, through its Women In Motion program. Aside from sponsoring several exhibits and projects over the course of the festival, the program recognized Japanese photographer Ishiuchi Miyako who was presented the 2024 Women In Motion Award.
During the official dinner held at the 77th edition of the Festival de Cannes, the 2024 Women In Motion Award was presented to Dame Donna Langley, Chair and Chief Content Officer of NBCUniversal Studio Group, in celebration of her lifelong career, promoting an inclusive industry and shaping diversity both in front of and behind the camera. On this occasion, Women In Motion also recognized the Malaysian filmmaker Amanda Nell Eu who scooped the program’s Emerging Talent Award.
As part of the 77th Festival de Cannes, Women In Motion Talks featured insightful commentary from leading women in cinema, spotlighting none other than Yseult, Judith Godrèche, Julianne Moore, Zoe Saldaña, Iris Knobloch, Charlotte Le Bon and Céline Sallette as well as Cate Blanchett with Coco Francini and Dr. Stacy L. Smith. The event provided an opportunity for each inspirational figure to share their experiences, ambitions and views on women’s representation in the film industry.
Women In Motion is celebrating photography month in Paris by supporting three major events.
Kering has been a partner of Paris Photo's Elles X Paris Photo program since 2020, and this year it is involved in the publication of the book ELLES, which takes a look back at the five years for which this initiative has run through the voices of more than 130 women photographers.
The Group is also supporting Chilean photographer Paz Errázuriz with her first retrospective in France, at the Maison de l’Amérique Latine, and her first publication in French, published by Atelier EXB.
A first retrospective of photography pioneer Julia Margaret Cameron is also being held at Jeu de Paume, in partnership with Women In Motion.
Also, from September 2023 to March 2024, Kering will be paying homage to the five recipients of the Women In Motion photography award at the Rencontres d’Arles, through an unprecedented poster campaign, on rue du Louvre, right in the center of Paris.
On the fifth anniversary of its partnership with Les Rencontres d’Arles, Kering is pleased to continue and increase its support for women photographers through numerous projects. The latter include the “On the ruins of photography” exhibition dedicated to Rosângela Rennó, a new special issue of the Women In Motion publication collection by Fisheye and the Agnès Varda exhibition “La Pointe courte, from photographs to film”.
Kering and Les Rencontres d’Arles present the fifth Women In Motion Award for Photography to Brazilian artist Rosângela Rennó. The Prix de la Photo Madame Figaro - Arles 2023 is awarded to the young Iranian photographer, Hannah Darabi. And for the first time, a special jury mention is given to Indian photographer Riti Sengupta.
The 2023 Women In Motion Award is presented to internationally acclaimed Malaysian-born actress and producer Michelle Yeoh at the 76th Festival de Cannes, while the Emerging Talent Award goes to Swiss director Carmen Jaquier.
The ninth edition of the Women In Motion Talks in Cannes welcomes many leading figures to share their views on women’s place and recognition in arts and culture: Jeremy O. Harris, Katie Holmes, Jeanne Herry, Cate Blanchett, Coco Francini, Lily Gladstone, Michelle Yeoh, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Eva Longoria, and Stacy L. Smith.
